the brain aches through and through,
how does this teach of life?
Must a math test be passed,
  to lose one’s virginity,
  logic taught,
determination learned,
outdated bullshit,
in truth the world changing,
computers will do it all,
the true knowledge needed,
how to kiss ass in twenty seven languages,
success easy,
through lips a bit chapped.

Douglas Polk is a poet living in the wilds of central Nebraska with his wife and two boys. He has had numerous poems , three books of poems, and two children's books published.
